bluedot – the festival that astounded in its first year at Jodrell Bank Observatory with an incredible fusion of music, science and arts – has been awarded two highly coveted accolades at this year’s Association of Independent Festivals at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

From a list of ten nominations bluedot triumphed with New Festival on the Block and Mind Blowing Spectacle for the literally out-of-this-world installation created by Brian Eno and projected onto the world famous Lovell Telescope.

Said festival director Ben Robinson: “It’s an absolute honour to receive these awards from our peers and it’s the ultimate recognition for everyone who worked so hard to make bluedot happen including our partners at Jodrell bank who delivered the incredible location and a truly cutting-edge science programme.

“In a crowded marketplace we tried to do something genuinely different and we pulled it off. We are determined to raise the bar again and have some very exciting developments to announce in the coming months.”

The award-winning festival has also been nominated in no fewer than six categories at the UK Festival Awards including Best New Festival, Best Small Festival and Best Headliner for Jean-Michel Jarre, bluedot is set to be bigger and better in 2017 with festival organisers committed to an even more ambitious programme.

Attendees at bluedot 2017 can again expect a galaxy of talent from across the scientific, literary and arts communities with five distinct arenas featuring space orchestras, talks, screenings, lectures, comedy and debates, a vast spectrum of hands-on activities and much more.
