Tower Productions Power The Great North Run

Tower Productions Tower Productions has been working with Nova for over 5 years, supplying a wide range of technical support to their large outdoor sporting events.  This year sees us at 11 locations across the U.K. from the first ever event at Olympic Park to Plymouth and Edinburgh.

The Great North Run is the largest of these, with 42 machines powering two main areas 13 miles apart. The start line requires overnight placement of generators, to power P.A. hangs lining the route of the now closed A1 dual carriageway.

Generators, distribution and towerlights to other areas were commissioned over the week leading up to the event.

In addition to the mammoth task of powering a site for over 55,000 people, our rigging department provided two large truss gantry systems using self-climbing Prolyte MPT towers.

Tower Productions has 17 years of experience in the live events industry – offering a wide range of equipment from our own stock and the project management and design skills required to ensure its smooth operation. Typically this will include; synchronised generators, power distribution, heating, site and practical lighting, show lighting, rigging, audio and plasma screens – all under the same roof.

This offers clients real benefits in terms of cost and making their supply chain very simple to manage.
