At its 2012 AGM ESSA announced the launch of its online TV channel, aimed at showcasing the best work of ESSA members and put out a call for video showreels.
Alongside the members’ video content will be information on ESSA itself, technical updates and information, all delivered in a medium that is as close to face to face as possible, for a large and widely dispersed audience. ESSA TV can be found here –www.essa.uk.com/tv
The 2012 AGM was very well supported with 84 registrations from 38 companies – this is one of the highest turnout figures since the association’s formation in 2008. One key aspect of the AGM is the election and re-election of members to the ESSA Board. This year the association elected Peter Bowen of Access Displays to the board for the first time, and Andrew Kennedy made a welcome return. The remaining positions were re-elected unopposed and the complete list of those elected is below:
- Peter Allen, Managing Director- 4D Design
- Peter Bowen, CEO – Access Displays Ltd
- Martin Cairns, Commercial Director – Reeds Carpeting Contractors
- Andrew Kennedy, Director – Perton Signs Ltd
- Peter Moule, Managing Director – Bill Moule & Sons
- Simon Ridout, Managing Director – Dimension 8 Ltd
The formal part of the meeting reported an association in good health with a 92% member retention rate and membership numbers up to 209. ESSA also continues to show a healthy balance sheet. In the absence of the current ESSA chair John Robson, the association’s vice chair Nick Marshall chaired the meeting and delivered the Chair’s Report. Company secretary Margery Youngs delivered the Treasurer’s Report.
Following the business of the AGM, guests at the event listened to speakers including Emma Wellman, venue services manager, Olympia and sustainability advisor, EC&O venues, who presented Carbon Voyage, a transport system that is intended to help to reduce all the costs of event journeys in terms of money, time and carbon footprint. Buz Ross from Whitwam demonstrated ESSA TV and highlighted the benefits of web based video content. And lastly, the award-winning Paul MacDonald of Marketing Week Live, gave members an update on all that is happening in and around the Live Marketing Show.
ESSA director Chris Skeith commented: “I was delighted to see so many members at this year’s AGM and would like to extend a warm welcome to those elected or re-elected to the ESSA board. It was very satisfying to report that we were able to deliver such a positive end of year performance report to the AGM in the face of the current economic situation. Clearly, we are delivering services that our members need and want. We are not resting on our laurels, however – we are always seeking ways to add value to our members’ businesses and continually look to enhance our offering based on member feedback. The Live Marketing Show is a great example – we decided to work closely with the team at Centaur because the show presents ESSA members with an ideal platform that can target marketers and brand owners directly. This is something many members have asked us to do.”
