The 2012 National Outdoor Event Association’s (NOEA) President’s Award has been presented to Melvin Benn during their annual convention in Birmingham. The recipient is a well-known and highly respected figure within the industry and is behind many large-scale events including the Reading and Leeds festivals.
Presenting the award, NOEA president Richard Limb said:
“The Presidents Award is a very prestigious award, a life time achievement award/fellowship. Melvin has been chosen as an individual who has made a huge and fantastic difference to the world of outdoor events. His passion, enthusiasm and determination are very impressive. He has the ability, experience, confidence and tenacity to stand up and be counted, to make a difference. A voice to be listened to, I have huge respect for all he has done for the events industry. He has a string of successes and is probably the most experienced, successful organiser/promoter in the world today. It is an honour to present him with this award.”
Richard also announced that Melvin has been made an honorary lifetime member of NOEA.
The convention is taking place in Birmingham and will conclude with a gala dinner and the NOEA awards. Melvin Benn addressed the convention on its opening morning, speaking about the impact of the London 2012 Olympics and the value that the venues will bring to the capital.
