Leeds Festival Leeds Festival organisers are hoping that their tried and tested methods of keeping traffic to a minimum at this year’s event will prove successful.

Event organiser Festival Republic unveiled its traffic-calming scheme for this year’s event, which will include directing festival traffic from junction 45 of the A1(M) to Bramham Park via local access routes such as Paradise Way.

An additional route will also be operated from junction 44 of the A1(M) via the A64 on Thursday August 25th, when traffic levels are likely to peak.

Moreover, festival-goers will be urged to share cars and catch special shuttle buses that will be available from various points in Leeds city centre.

In a letter to local residents, Melvin Benn, the managing director of Festival Republic, said: “The traffic plan for Leeds Festival 2010 was considered a success overall and the plan remains the same for 2011.”

This year, the festival runs from August 26th to 28th, but traffic is expected to start arriving from Wednesday August 24th.
