International News: Middle East Event Award Winners announced

Etihad AirwaysDUBAI — Winners in 20 categories were announced at the third Middle East Event Awards in recognition of their innovation, achievements and excellence in the events industry.

The nominations were assessed by a panel of 10 judges comprising renowned industry names including William (Bill) John O’Toole from Australia, Zanine Adams, President ISES UK, Hans-Juergen “Lauti” Lautenfeld, a production specialist from Germany, Charlotte DeWitt, President, International Events USA and Steven Wood Schmader, President and CEO of the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA).

“Nearly 200 nominations were received for the awards, which has been the highest number so far and represents the desire of all professionals involved in the industry to excel in delivering successful events,” said Dana Haubold, Project Manager of the Awards at IIR Middle East, the UAE-based event management
company.

Meeting Minds won the award for Best Meeting or Conference for IDA World Congress, Vibe got Best Incentive Event award for Coca-Cola Company Annual Conference, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC)  won Best Trade Exhibition Award for Gulf Food. DWTC also won Best Purpose-built Events Venue award, Madinat Jumeirah got Best Meetings or Events Facilities within a hotel, Best Music Event award went to Flash Entertainment for Beats on the Beach/ Yasalam, npa events won the award in Best Arts and Cultural Event Category for Rembrandt in Oman, Flash Entertainment won Best Marketing Campaign for An Event award for Yasalam, Best Innovative Entertainment Award went to Global Village for Global Village Cultural and Arts Festival, Best Exhibition Stand Design went to Extra Cake for Barbican Turbo Exhibition Stand and Inhouse Productions won Best Creative Use of Event Lighting award for Grand Prix Signature Dinner.

mamemo productions won best AV/ video Solution for An Event for World’s First Holo Room & World’s First Digital Model, HQ Creative on behalf of TDIC won the Best Event Design award for Abu Dhabi Art – VIP Majlis & Design Studio “beyond”,  Arena Lea International Farnborough International Limited and Harlequin Arena won the Outstanding Event Using a Temporary Venue/Structure or Space award for Bahrain International Airshow 2010, Best Corporate Product or Service Launch went to mamemo productions for launch of the Surface Transport Master Plan (STMP 2030, Outstanding Production Achievement went to Filmmaster Events for Kaust Inauguration Ceremony, ADNEC and dmg events won Green Award.

Murad Shisha from mamemo productions won the Young Achiever of the Year award.

Richard Coram from The Talent Brokers bagged Outstanding Contribution to the Middle East Event Industry award.

The Awards also featured the launch of the first “Middle East Event Show”, scheduled from May 18–19, 2011. The show is positioned as the perfect platform for events and entertainment suppliers and buyers to connect in the wider Middle East region with the most comprehensive display of services, products and performances.

The Middle East Event Awards 2010 were presented by sourceme and key sponsors included Al Laith, Gemini, Prince, Jumeirah 
and Precise.

The event was organised by IIR Middle East, the name behind major international exhibitions, conferences and trainings in the region including Arab Health, Cityscape, Middle East Electricity, PALME and Leaders in Dubai.
