Product Description
It is an invaluable one-stop handbook for
event organisers and anyone responsible for putting on a voluntary or public event. It covers safety requirements and complying with the legislation. Research, plan, organise, manage and deliver any event, match, show, tournament or function – be it carnival, gymkhana, fun run, pop festival, school sports day or Formula 1 car race!
From the Author
I have been involved in the organisation, planning and management of events for over 20 years. I have made mistakes and seen the mistakes others have made. From that experience I could see the mistakes event organisers were making and started offering advice. After a few years I decided to write some of my standard advice down. What started as a leaflet grew into this book containing 35 chapters that take you through from deciding you want to try to put on a show or organise an event, to planning it, setting it up, running it, and stripping down and clearing the venue or site afterwards. I use real examples to illustrate the problems and objectives. This book is a good starting point for any event from a fete to a gymkhana, or a fun run to a car boot sale. –This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
About the Author
Des Conway first became involved in event planning and managing in 1980, where he made and saw many mistakes and began to identify what makes an event fail or succeed. Later, and over 18 years, he played a central role in policing a variety of small, medium and large events, where he learned more about what makes an event a success. Lack of planning, lack of understanding and overlooking key issues often make an event far less successful than it should be. That’s why he wrote this book – a handbook of information and experience to ensure that your event is a success.
