Facebook to start selling tickets to gigs and other events soon

Eventbrite and Facebook

Facebook appears to be testing a way of selling tickets for Facebook events. A page suggesting a partnership between events site Eventbrite and Facebook was briefly spotted but has now disappeared. Could Facebook start selling tickets to gigs and other events soon?

Facebook is selling tickets for its forthcoming F8 developer conference using Eventbrite but it seems that could just be the start.

An eagle-eyed reader spotted a Facebook page on Eventbrite site which has subsequently vanished.

The message on the page announced that Facebook was partnering with Eventbrite to “enable you to collect money for your event. Your attendees pay with credit card and Eventbrite collects the money on your behalf and sends you a check when your event is over.”

The proposed Facebook/Eventbrite ticket sales plan would charge a small service charge for each ticket sold but would not cost the event organiser anything to use.

Eventbrite also allows you to offer tickets for free. You could set up an event with free entry but offer tickets via Facebook to limit numbers.

Neither Facebook or Eventbrite will comment on the proposed service though Facebook did state that it is “always testing [Facebook Connect] implementations with various sites…”

Eventpay App on Facebook is already tightly intergrated full service box office solution on Facebook. It is also much less expensive. Check it out: http://www.facebook.com/eventpay
