Liverpool Convention Bureau launches new branding and strategy
The UK’s Liverpool Convention Bureau has rebranded and launched a new marketing strategy.
“Liverpool has undergone so much change in the last few years, we needed to develop our services and branding to match,” said Carol O’Reilly, Liverpool Convention Bureau manager.
“We are in a fantastic position to open up the city and its attractions to event organisers. The re-launched Liverpool Convention Bureau will be able to point organisers in the right direction and help them to secure venues, suppliers and room nights across the city’s diverse portfolio.
“Our new branding positions Liverpool as a contemporary brand that can breathe new life into events and we are looking forward to an exciting future.”
The Bureau now is committed to business tourism and anticipates 14,000 new jobs and a £2 billion visitor spend by 2020 as part of its renewed focus on events business.
New developments for the city include recent major hotel brand property openings including Novotel and Hilton hotels (November 2009). A third Hilton hotel, Hampton by Hilton, is scheduled to open in April 2010 with 160 rooms.
Other forthcoming projects include boutique hotel Indigo, part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group.
Work on the hotel is expected to start in April and will include a Marco Pierre White restaurant, conference facilities and 151 rooms.
At the other end of the market, Moor House is being converted into a budget brand Days Inn with 155 rooms when it is completed at the end of 2010.
The total number of hotel rooms in the city will total nearly 5,000 by the end of 2010.
Elsewhere, Lime Street Station, regarded as a major gateway into the city centre, is being transformed by a £35 million project to create a visually stunning entrance into the city. The project is due for completion in spring 2011 with the station remaining operational throughout.
As a UNESCO World Heritage City, culture is one of Liverpool’s biggest assets. As well as holding the Guinness Book of World Records title as the ‘Capital of Pop’, Liverpool boasts one of the finest collections of museums, galleries and theatres outside London. This will be further strengthened by the opening of a major new museum and event space on the city’s historic waterfront in 2011.
