Twitter for events an effective marketing tool by @drmasquerade

| January 4, 2010 | 3 Comments More

DR M aka Adrian Silas of Masquerade UK joined twitter towards the end of 2009 and he admits he was a little sceptical about it all.

Adrian explains to Event Industry News how it has helped him engage the events industry on a larger scale than he could imagine and the impact its had on him and his business.

Dr M - AdrianAdrian explains “by 21/1/10 and in just under 3 months I have seen the incredible power and force of twitter, it has helped me to amassed a following of international like-minded people and created a unique marketing platform in the real-time emerging web that is about the now, the moment and communicating by listening, sharing, and engaging on a daily basis”.

DR M came across Podcaster @vobes via Video Producer @jeznowhouse and in turn came across him via his wife @SisterSnog and since that time he has met all 3 in person and worked on events with the 1st two!

“Indeed, in 2010, there is much planned between the various tweet friends who have now, thanks to serendipity, come to life and are part of the world of DR M and the Masquerade team….so yes, twitter does really connect people so long as you want to engage and share!” says Dr M.

The twitterverse is now a real place with human contact and has created a brave new world for him and on 21/1/10 at the London Meetup he will share his passion for twitter and talk about how he uses it personally to communicate and how it has become the main tool for his day-to-day dialogue with people in social media, events and in the UK scene.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED with DR M but EXPECT THE EXPECTED from twitter as it has a unique and unequivocal power to influence others and build networks that are rooted in strength, humanity and passionate transparency!

Twitter is here to stay and DR M thanks to people like Jeff Pulver (@jeffpulver) can see the horizons of life, work and social media dawning with a great and exciting potential for humanity to share the moment of now!

I really enjoyed reading your post. All the points made are really quite true. Maintaining a light hearted tone and not letting the updates be automated is really key to twitter working effectively.

Here is an interesting statistic on the marked increase in corperate usage of Twitter:

Twitter marketing jumped from just 3% of companies in 2008 to 49% in 2009. [Source:
