Liverpool unifies to promote area for corporate events
A number of agencies have joined forces this month to promote one of the UK’s biggest cities as a great destination for team building corporate events.
The Liverpool Convention Bureau has been created in a partnership between regeneration agency the Mersey Partnership (TMP), ACC Liverpool, the Kings Dock, BT Convention Centre and a number of other destinations.
It follows the success of the ACC waterfront area and conference centre, which ended up converting over £200 million into the local economy as well as hosting 730,000 people.
Commenting on the new initiative, Lorraine Rogers, TMP’s chief executive, said: “We intend to provide a first class service that ultimately ensures business tourism generates significant income for the city region.”
Bob Prattey, the chief executive of the ACC Liverpool events space, added: “The creation of the Liverpool Convention Bureau enables us to compete in the European meetings industry and stand out as an international convention location.”
The BT Convention Centre, one of the event spaces involved in the scheme, is hosting the TUC’s 2009 congress on Monday September 14th, running until the Thursday of the same week.
