Harrogate event organisers ‘will benefit from airport boost’

Conference organisers staging events at the Harrogate International Centre (HIC) will benefit from improved services at Leeds Bradford airport, according to the venue’s director.

Stuart Quin, chief at the HIC, said that Ryanair’s recent announcement that it is to add 14 new routes and 63 additional flights every week at the travel hub will boost the appeal of the North Yorkshire venue.

He asserted that the increased services, plus the planned £28 million development of Leeds Bradford airport “underlines Harrogate’s position in the centre of the UK as an increasingly attractive and accessible option for conference and exhibition organisers and delegates”.

Mr Quin added that one of the keys to the HIC’s success is the fact that delegates do not need a car while staying in the town as everything is in easy walking distance of the centre.

In July, the venue secured four trade and association events contracts worth an estimated £6 million.
