Sussex Obstacle Dash is Born
Thousands of runners are expected to descend on the South of England Centre in November for a unique new running race with a difference. The Sussex Obstacle Dash is a fun event at the home of The South of England Show on Sunday 8th November 2009 and claims to have a race for all.
Dan James, Event Director, said: “We wanted to add a race with a difference to our event portfolio and this will definitely be unique. Athletes will tackle up to 20 obstacles including horse jumps, water jumps and other challenges which will give the race an extra dimension. The event is aimed at all abilities with 3 different distances to choose from: 2.5km, 5km and 10km.”
The race is set to be a tough little challenge and is likely to prove popular with charities as potential athletes can enter as an individual or in teams of 2, 3 or 4. Dan James said: “It will be great fun for people to do with family, friends or club members and we already have an entry from a pantomime horse. The race is perfect for teams to race together and it therefore offers a great low-cost teambuilding opportunity in tough economic times.”
The event organiser is Sussex based firm Urbanrace Limited who have been operating since 2003 and manage The Sussex Triathlon and The Brighton Triathlon. The company also played an integral part in one of the few city centre triathlons in the UK when The Liverpool Triathlon took place in June 2009 around The Albert Dock and Echo Arena in Merseyside.
