Event Suppliers Remain Optimistic, Despite Sales Declines

Although 57.1 percent of event industry suppliers have reported a decline in sales as a result of the global recession, 25 percent have actually seen them increase, according to a new survey from the Congress Rental Network.

What’s more, while 45 percent of event industry suppliers have seen a decrease in event attendance, 59.9 percent of them have nonetheless seen their number of sales leads either remain constant or increase.

According to CRN Chairman Jo Debono, the survey’s silver lining is that despite the downturn, event industry buyers are looking for the best products, not necessarily the cheapest.

“Whilst some of these figures appear worrying at first glance, there is still some great news in the survey,” Debono said in a statement, adding that 96.2 percent of buyers cite quality as a key reason for buying event industry services. “Price comes well down the list and clearly shows clients are willing to pay for a better, guaranteed service during challenging times. This is outstanding news.”
