Reading Festival is ‘not suitable for children’

| July 13, 2009 | 0 Comments More

Reading Festival is not suitable for young children, organiser Melvin Benn said.

Following complaints from a dad who took his 12-year-old son to the festival last year, Mr Benn said he would consider safety options for this year’s event.

But he said this week: “I thought about it and decided, actually, Reading Festival is not suitable for young children. This year we are actively encouraging parents not to bring their children and if they do, keep them away from busy crowds.

“Reading Festival is not a family orientated event and it never will be.”

Last year, Peter Bond from Southampton took his son Joshua and wife Muna Roberts but said they were “terrified and traumatised” by the event.
