Isle of Wight Festival scoops international award

THE Isle of Wight Festival has scooped another award, while comedy duo Matthew Horne and James Corden became the latest acts tipped for the Island and this summer’s festival.

The festival, which recently revealed legend Neil Young and iconic rockers The Pixies as the closing acts for Sunday night, was recognised at the International Live Music Conference held at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London, on Saturday.

Organiser John Giddings said: “It was incredible to win an international award for the festival against the likes of Benicassim in Spain, Lowlands in Holland and Glastonbury.

“Its shows how far we have come in seven years. Long may it continue and thanks to everyone on the Island for their support.”

He also admitted there might be some truth in the rumours the stars of BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey could be on the bill.

It was reported in Sunday’s News of the World that Horne and Corden were planning on forming a band to perform at the festival.
