Professional event organisers, Gable Events, have launched a brand new team building event for 2009. Following eighteen months of meticulous development, they are extremely proud to announce the UK’s first fully participatory corporate Medieval event!

Given the term ‘Medieval Day’ most people think of a purely spectator event where the highlight of the day is watching professional horsemen joust or enthusiasts re-enacting a famous battle. The Gable Events Medieval Day is completely different as you become the star of the show. It gives every individual the unique opportunity to step back in time and experience for themselves the journey taken from humble page to fully fledged Knight!

Split into teams, participants rotate around a series of authentic fun Medieval activities including building a trebuchet, long bow archery, kitchen duty and target jousting practice with the quintain and the rings. But don’t worry, no previous horse riding experience is required as, although the horses look real, they have been specially built using a rolling mechanism which replicates the motion of riding and the power is supplied by your teammates!

Taught by trained instructors, teams soon master traditional Medieval skills and techniques then come together for the exhilarating finales; ‘Storm the Castle’ – firing their trebuchets at a replica castle, ‘Battle of Agincourt’ – re-enacting the famous battle between the English and the French using traditional longbows and arrows (rubber tipped!) and ‘Battle of Champions’ where each team’s best knights battle head-to-head in a spectacular joust-off. All the activities get team members working together, building effective relationships and encouraging good communication skills.

The event is fully themed with each team being allocated a tent and medieval standard representing their camp for the day. Flags decorate the activity area and a Knights tabard is given to each team member to fully get into the spirit of the day! The event can accommodate between 10 and 150 people for a full or a half day making it ideal as a team building event to follow a conference or meeting, as an away day to reward staff or even as a come and try it event for a fun day!

All the equipment is fully mobile and can be brought to any venue with large grounds of the client’s choosing or Gable Events can recommend a venue to suit the client’s individual requirements. The Medieval day lends itself particularly well to a castle or historic house setting and side entertainments and catering can be themed to suit. Jugglers, jesters, fire eaters, wandering minstrels, medieval dancers and a falconry display all add an extra dimension to the event and a Medieval banquet or hog roast is guaranteed to satisfy your hungry knights!

Gable Events Director, Carol Lester, who has more than fifteen years experience in the events industry has never seen anything like it. Carol comments: “A considerable amount of work has gone into developing this event, building the bespoke equipment and designing the day to ensure maximum involvement and participation. We are extremely proud of the end result and believe this is the first event of its kind in the country. We are expecting Medieval Days to be one of our most popular corporate events this year”.
