Edinburgh’s Treefest looks for new backing

ORGANISERS of Edinburgh’s Treefest and Woodmarket are appealing for funding after one of their main backers pulled out.

This year’s event will take place in Inverleith Park on July 18 and 19, even though a previous supporter, which provided around £15,000 of funding, pulled out after last year’s event.

Due to the loss of funding, one part of the event – the Carnival of Trees project, which involved primary school children marching through Stockbridge in costumes and playing drums on the first morning of Treefest – will not be able to go ahead this year.

Treefest organiser and Four Winds project director Carole Fraser said: “We would welcome interest from potential sponsors and funders to support the provision of the festival.

The free family event will take place from 11am to 5pm on both days and will include willow weaving, wood turning, felt making, and chainsaw carving.
