The Main Event exhibition ’09

Cutting edge events exhibition ‘The Main Event’ Scotland’s only exhibition dedicated to corporate events, hospitality and entertainment, has announced it will take the SECC, Glasgow by storm this year on Thursday 12th March 2009 between 9.30am – 5.30pm as it showcases the best of the Scottish events industry. The Main Event ’08 attracted over 1,000 visitors when it premiered last year.

Aimed at showing businesses how to make the next meeting, dinner, conference or party really make an impact on their audience, the Main Event 09, which is free to attend, will be stacked by guest speakers including presenter Grant Stott and will be bursting with innovative ideas such as a specialised ice bar and the Tenors Incognito – a group who masquerade as waiters before bursting into song on an unsuspecting audience.

Fran McIntyre, Main Event director, said: “When organising an event, the main barriers are often where to source information on venues, organisers, entertainment, transport and catering. The Main Event will answer all these questions for visitors and will show the best of what Scotland has to offer.”

Exhibitors at the Main Event will showcase the crème de la crème of the events industry – from unique venues and wonderful food, to cutting edge lighting, staging and inspired entertainment. A selection of companies exhibiting include: Apex Hotels, Badaboom Bars, En Croute Catering, Go Ape, Historic Scotland, Marriott Hotels, Sound & Vision and Tents and Events.

Arran Moffat, from Sound & Vision, exhibited at last year’s Main Event: “Compared to similar events I have attended in London, the Main Event had a totally different feel about it – it was very boutique and we’ll definitely be back next year. It’s is really important to have a Scottish event trade show as it’s a good opportunity to meet with potential customers and our competition.”

Alison Martin, Head of Events at the Herald & Times Group, visited the Main Event last year: “It was great to have the first event trade show in Glasgow. Having previously visited similar events in London I was impressed by the design, atmosphere and range of exhibitors at The Main Event.

We are constantly seeking new and innovative event ideas and this show provided some interesting solutions”
