Scotland homecoming festival to make waves
An Ayrshire beach is to form the backdrop for Scotland’s first Homecoming music festival.
Snow Patrol, Dimitri from Paris and DJ Tim Westwood are among the acts lined-up to perform at Irvine Beach Park on 2 and 3 May.

It is one of a series of events being held to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns.
But the festival’s organisers said it would become an annual event, boosting the local economy by up to £10m.
Other artists joining the line-up include the Pigeon Detectives, Lisa Lashes and Armin van Buuren.
Organiser Grant Ruxton said the event was part of a five year plan to develop the music festival.
He said: “West central Scotland is possibly the only area in the UK that does not stage a major high quality outdoor music festival.
“Yet smaller population areas, to the east, north and over in Northern Ireland, have managed to create, develop and sustain such festivals, bringing enormous economic advantages to each area.
“In the year of Homecoming, it is appropriate to put this right and create such a festival, with high aspirations and the full-on festival flavour, right in the middle of Burns country. We expect that Rabbie would have approved…”
The festival will be held in 12 arenas over two days and claims to finish later than all other major Scottish festivals, with music running through until 0200 BST.
Tickets for the event, which is supported by North Ayrshire Council and the Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, go on sale on Thursday.
