Ready to rock to the sounds of Fifestock

THE UK’s smallest rock festival gets under way at the Inn at Lathones next week.

Fifestock 2009 is being hosted at ‘Rocking at the Stables’, one of the country’s most intimate music venues with a capacity of just 50.

Hailed as Britain’s smallest rock festival, Fifestock will see over 20 acts come together for three weeks of music heaven.

Music legend John Martyn, who died earlier this month, was due to head the line-up and to play three nights in March.

Fifestock organiser, David Mundell, is currently seeking a replacement.

The 22-day festival kicks off on Tuesday, February 17, with former Moody Blues front man and Paul McCartney & Wings member, Denny Laine and his band.

Other headlining acts include Benny Gallagher (Gallagher & Lyle), Henry McCullough (Joe Cocker, Paul McCartney & Wings), John Jorgenson (member of Elton John’s band for six years), Henry Priestman (Christians), Bruce Watson (Big Country) and Hugh Cornwell (The Stranglers) to name a few.

Mundell said: “I decided to set up an annual music festival to inject some much-needed enjoyment in to a very dreich time of the year.

“By encompassing many genres and attracting big names, we hope to appeal to a broad range of music lovers and to become a permanent fixture on the national music scene.”

The venue’s intimacy has often been described as the ‘ultimate living-room gig’, with many acts staying behind for a drink and a chat with fans after the gig.
