You could stage your event at the Millennium Stadium for free

GWENT community and charitable organisations can apply to use a flagship sporting venue free of charge.

Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium has now launched its Community Events programme 2009 which sets aside 15 days for a variety of charitable causes.

Manager Gerry Toms said the programme was a great opportunity for organisations all over Wales to enjoy the facilities without the cost faced by the likes of Madonna and the FA.

“The events have been hugely successful over the years and attracted a range of positive activity from community football to landing the St John’s Ambulance helicopter via the open roof of the Stadium and on to the pitch.”

Mr Toms said they could be flexible due to the multi-functional nature of the famous venue.

Applications are invited from community and youth groups, amateur sporting clubs and organisations but excludes profit-making events.

Up to 15 events each year will be staged free of charge except for direct costs incurred by the Millennium Stadium to be borne by the event organisers. “Any not-for-profit organisation interested in the scheme should visit the website and apply as early as possible this year. A member of our team will get back to you to discuss your idea and how we can make your event happen.”
