New Birmingham event venue opens

A new event venue has opened in Birmingham to further stimulate the events market in the city and compete with London’s private members bars, reports the Birmingham Post.

Chocolate is a new boutique bar which opened with a star-studded launch party to offer an exterior terrace, two bars and VIP areas complete with members bars. The new event venue is intended to bring an extra edge of vibrancy to the market in England’s second city and should rapidly develop a reputation as a lively party venue.

While Chocolate has just opened, Digbeth’s The Old Library at the Custard Factory has made it into a list of top ten event venues in the UK, beating London venues the O2 and Earls Court. The Old Library is over 150 years old and has a capacity of 300 for both parties and conferences.

The Birmingham News reports that Joey McClure, owner of Joseph McClure Commercial Real Estate, is looking to rejuvenate a series of former event venues in Birmingham’s ailing theatre district.
