Hamish McRae, Ruby Wax and Kelvin MacKenzie will be delivering the keynotes at this year’s International Confex show from 24-26 February 2009 at Earls Court. They will be sharing some insight into the economy, their backgrounds, as well as imparting words of wisdom and hoping to inspire the audience as part of the free Confex Knowledge seminar programme.

Event Director for Confex, Duncan Reid comments; “In the current economic climate it has never been more important to ensure you keep ahead of the changes in the industry and be in a position to respond to them. Confex Knowledge can give you the inspiration to do this and I expect to see even more visitors look to take advantage of the free seminar content this year.”

Hamish McRae is the principal economic commentator for The Independent and has also won several awards for his journalistic work. Hamish will be discussing the economy and the shift of economic power to Asia, as well as how technology interacts with human capital to shift competitive advantage.

Outspoken Ruby Wax has swapped three decades of working on stage, television and radio for a new direction. Following her completion of a MSc in Psychotherapy, Ruby now inspires corporate leaders through informative workshops that encourage a deeper and more direct level of communication with clients and colleagues. Combining humour with practical exercises, participants leave with a set of tools to help create a climate of positivity that they can bring to their organisation.

Former editor of The Sun, Kelvin MacKenzie, will be stimulating lively debate at the show. He has had a long career in the industry but is most known during his days at The Daily Express and The Sun where he became an infamous tabloid legend. The headline “Freddie Starr ate my hamster” was one of many coined by Kelvin during his 12-year career as The Sun’s Editor.

In addition to the three keynote speakers there will be a further 55 free seminars over the three days including a session by former finalists on ‘The Apprentice’ Kristina Grimes and Jennifer Celerier. They will be discussing their own experiences with creating and delivering an event in six months plus there will be seminars from events industry associations Eventia, EIA, AEO, SITE, HBAA and MPI.
