Warning over T in the Park hoax

| December 11, 2008 | 1 Comment More

T in the Park fans are being warned not to buy tickets from a Hungarian-based website which claims to have passes for next year’s festival.

Organisers said the site, www.tinthepark2009.com, had no ticket allocation and fans should not be duped into giving their credit card details.

Those behind the festival are also applying to Perth and Kinross Council to increase ticket numbers by 5,000.

Councillors are due to vote on the issue on Friday.

A spokeswoman for T in the Park promoter DF Concerts said it would be taking legal action against the unauthorised Hungarian site.

Legal action

She added: “This site is 100% unofficial and has not been given an allocation of festival tickets to sell.

“The event is taking legal action and urges T in the Parkers to under no circumstances buy tickets from this outlet.”

The proposed increase in the number of tickets would see capacity at Balado Park rise to 85,000.

Organisers said that letting more people into the site early would help prevent a repeat of 2007′s shambolic parking arrangements.

Hundreds of motorists struggled to enter the rain-sodden site and caused massive tailbacks as central Scotland’s roads network became gridlocked.

Tens of thousands of tickets for the event have already been sold, even though none of the acts taking part have been confirmed.
