G4S Events, the specialist events division of G4S Security Services (UK), has won a SportBusiness Sports Event Management Award for its security and stewarding services to The Derby Festival at Epsom Downs Racecourse, and The Championships, Wimbledon .

The award was presented to Mark Hamilton, Managing Director of G4S Events, at the awards ceremony which was held at the St Pancras, Novotel hotel in London on Wednesday the 12 th of November.

Mark Hamilton states, “It is an honour to receive this award for two such iconic events in Britain ’s summer calendar. By working closely with our customers, the police and local authorities, we are proud to have been involved in the development of security procedures which have raised the bar for the rest of the industry.”

The Derby Festival, Epsom Downs Racecourse,
In 2008, working closely with Epsom Downs Racecourse and Surrey Police, G4S delivered a solution that effectively reduced the number of police officers required to attend the festival, which in turn significantly reduced the cost of securing the event for the customer. As the first company permitted to restrain and detain members of the public on land which has unrestricted public access, the proven credentials of G4S have resulted in a major landmark in the field of event security.

The Championships, Wimbledon,
As official suppliers of security to The Championships, Wimbledon , G4S oversees the safety and security of all competitors, over 6,000 people working at the grounds and around 45,000 visitors across the 42 acre site.

G4S has worked with Epsom Downs Racecourse and the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) for over 20 years.
